Eligibility & Course Details

You are able to gain entry to the Certificate IV in Community Services if you have:

      • Completed Year 12, or equivalent and are 18 years or older
      • Over 21 years of age and have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)

 

All prospective students, also need to participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.

    • Our Certificate IV in Community Services is a nationally recognised qualification, as well as being industry desired.
    • There is a high chance of employment at Activated Concepts for outstanding students.
    • You will be provided credits towards further studies in the Diploma of Community Services for Students should they wish to continue their studies.

This unit explores the rights of clients, assessment and advocacy of their expressed needs and ongoing supports. You will learn to support the voice of clients from a human rights-based approach.

CHCCCS004

This unit introduces the assessment and managing of case planning for clients with multiple needs. From initial consultation through to referral – you will learn the step-by-step process and tools to assist you to thrive in practice.

CHCCOM002

This unit is a cornerstone subject in community services and focuses on the art of communication and how you might strategically engage and disengage within the workplace to support success.

CHCDIV001

This unit reflects on your positionality (gender, culture, religion, sexuality, ability etc) and what you bring with you to each engagement. This unit centres on creating cultural safety for diverse clients in this context.

CHCLEG001

This unit provides the vital legal and ethical underpinning in community service practice. It introduces legal and ethical issues you might face in practice and explores how to manage these to keep you safe in practice.

CHCPRP001

This unit establishes the importance of networking with internal and external professionals and organisations to support service delivery and professional practice.

HLTWHS003

This unit focuses on developing understanding and skills around work, health, and safety. Specifically, looking at responsibilities and how to follow health and safety policies and procedures.

CHCDIS001

This unit centres on the importance of person-centred care in the disability sector. You will look at skill-based assessments, develop individualised plans, monitoring and documentation progression.

CHCPRP003

This unit establishes independent accountability by reflecting and evaluating your professional practice. It also explores supervision and ongoing professional development

CHCCCS017

This unit explores the theories and skills needed to assist you to understand and respond to clients experiencing grief and loss.

CHCMHS001

This unit explores helping you partner with people that experience mental health issues, to assess their needs and support them to meet their aspirations and needs.

Increase the safety of individuals at risk of suicide

This unit meets sector demand and will support you to identify and manage immediate suicide risk, develop a safety plan and mobilise access to emergency/support networks to minimise risk and create protective factors.

Facilitate community participation and social inclusion 


This unit explores developing and facilitating person-centred strategies for participation in various community settings, functions, and activities to enhance the psychosocial wellbeing and lifestyle of a person with a disability.

Implement trauma-informed care 

This unit meets sector demand and highlights the relevance of trauma important it is to understand. It will assist you to understand the impact of trauma, how common it is and how to promote a safe trauma-informed environment for your clients.

Recognise and respond to crisis situations 


This unit looks at situations where people may be in imminent crisis, assessment of needs and how to minimise any safety concerns and make plans to access required support services.

Practical Experience

As a student, it is paramount that you get sufficient practical experience with different people to apply your knowledge, learn new skills and build your practice competence. One of the founding motivations for the Clinical College being created was due to feedback from Workers and Employers wishing they/their staff had more practical experience in applying theoretical concepts outside a few online role-plays.


As part of your studies at the Clinical College, you will be provided with ample practical experience to apply your theoretical understanding in a safe and relaxed environment. This will allow you to learn your strengths and develop the areas you want to enhance in the face-to-face classes.


Further, once you graduate, we will provide you with follow up support and services to ensure you do not feel alone as you continue to master your aptitudes. This is FREE and our practice commitment to you!
