Mental Health First Aid

Mental health challenges can manifest differently in everyone, but often hidden beneath the surface. While physical first aid is universally acknowledged as essential, many people lack the skills to support those around them dealing with mental health issues.

The two-day Standard Mental Health First Aid® course is designed for individuals aged 18 and over, teaching them how to provide initial support and intervention to adults experiencing the early signs of a mental health issue, the worsening of an existing condition, or a mental health crisis. This support is offered until professional help is obtained or the crisis is resolved.

This course equips you with the necessary skills to confidently engage in conversations, provide guidance, and support others experiencing emotional distress from mental health issues including depression, anxiety, psychosis, and substance use, as well as assist in navigating through broader crises including suicidal thoughts and behaviours, panic attacks, traumatic events, severe psychotic episodes, severe effects of alcohol or drug use, and aggressive behaviours.

Upon successfully completing a short assessment, participants receive a certificate from Mental Health First Aid* Australia. Those who pass the assessment can use the title of Accredited MentalHealth First Aider™.
