Short Course

Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, CPR (HLTAID009)

This short course is targeted at anyone that would like to gain an understanding of a life-saving skill for their workplace, for their loved ones or as a form of personal development to be ready with this essential life-saving skill.

This course combines elements of theory and practical. It is a key requirement that you perform CPR on our manikins (licensing requirement of the unit). The assessment criteria require you to demonstrate the ability to correctly perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor. If you have any issues with getting down on the floor to mimic a person who collapsed or capacity to perform CPR for 2 minutes, please let us know.

This course is in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

CPR training is valid for twelve (12) months.  The Clinical College offers refreshers for both CPR and First Aid.

Initially, you will learn to critically analyse the safety of yourself and others. Once safe, you will learn how to assess the need to undertake CPR and request assistance.

This is the core element of the unit and you will be guided by the clinical assessor on how to administer CPR as per the ARC guidelines and operate a defibrillator. Additionally, you will be trained on how to use first aid resources and equipment.

The Clinical College prides itself on ‘walking the talk’ to assist students to shine as much as possible! We are not just another Registered Training Organisation; we are clinical professionals working in the field and care about your success!

Practical Experience

As a student, it is paramount that you get sufficient practical experience with different people to apply your knowledge, learn new skills and build your practice competence. One of the founding motivations for the Clinical College being created was due to feedback from Employers and Employee’s wishing they had more practical experience in applying theoretical concepts outside a few online role-plays.

As part of your studies at the Clinical College, you will be provided with ample practical experience to apply your theoretical understanding in a safe and relaxed environment. This will allow you to learn your strengths and develop the areas you want to enhance in the face-to-face classes.
